Pronunciation

Ebonya Washington is the Laurans A. and Arlene Mendelson Professor of Economics and a professor of International and Public Affairs. Her research interests include the interplay of race, gender, and political representation. She is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a fellow of the Econometric Society, and serves as the co-chair of the American Economic Association’s Committee on the Status of Minority Groups in the Economics Profession and co-director of the National Bureau of Economic Research Program on Political Economy. Washington earned her PhD in economics at MIT in 2003 and subsequently served as an assistant, associate and full professor at Yale before joining Columbia in 2022.
Outside of work she enjoys drawing.
